Cognitive assessment

What is a Cognitive Assessment?

A cognitive assessment is a comprehensive and standardised test which assesses your child’s general thinking and reasoning skills. At Every Mind, we use the WISC-V cognitive assessment tool which is a fun, iPad based test. It uses different activities and puzzles to assess various aspects of your child’s cognitive abilities.

How long does it take?

The WISC V generally takes 2 hours to complete, sometimes slightly less. Two hours is a long time to concentrate so the child is always offered a break and a snack half way through.

What age can my child be to have a cognitive assessment?

This test is for children between 6 and 16 years old.

Why have a cognitive assessment?

A cognitive assessment can be extremely helpful for you and for school to understand a little more about how your child thinks and make sense of the world around them. This test can give you insight into how your child processes verbal and visual information, how your child problem solves, how quickly your child processes information, and how they hold information in their short term memory.

How much does it cost?

A cognitive assessment at Every Mind costs £480.
