My name is Dr Barbara Rishworth; I am a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years of experience supporting children, young people and their families across the NHS and the charitable sector. I am a Health and Care Professions Council registered psychologist.
I have especially valued working with children who are neuro diverse and have been involved at all stages of the process; assessment, diagnosis and intervention. I have supported families to make sense of and respond to the particular challenges that they face as well as supporting the systems around the child to have a shared understanding and approach. I am regularly amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of the many families I meet.
Since qualifying my clinical work has involved developing groups, being part of family therapy clinics, collective action projects and service management. I strive to work flexibly and collaboratively, responding to the needs of those I meet with and drawing on the skills and abilities of both the children and their families. In my clinical work I draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy and Mindfulness based approaches. I am committed to ongoing development and learning and regularly attend further training and CPD events alongside my own research and reading as well as presenting at conferences and events.
I have two small people that keep me on my toes and regularly challenge me to grow and change. I love art and before becoming a psychologist always wanted to be an artist and try to finds moments to be creative. I think that is why I value being around and working with people who are neuro diverse as they encourage me to view and think about things in a different way.
Barbara will be joining Every Mind from September 2018. Please do contact the clinic for more information or to book to see her.
