Our values and ethos

As a clinic, we embrace the following within all that we do and offer:

Acceptance

It is essential that our parents and young people feel validated and accepted as the people that they are. We don't mind what you wear, how you speak, what you want to speak about, and how you do this. If your child needs to jump up and down, take their shoes off, or fiddle with toys whenever they see us, this is absolutely fine!

We are a gender-affirming service and warmly welcome children and young people of all gender identities.
We respect each person’s self-identified gender and use names, language and pronouns that feel right for them.

Authenticity

We want the young people we see to feel safe and comfortable to be their most genuine and authentic self when they are with us. We have no expectations for eye contact, facial expressions or needing to behave in any 'neurotypical' way when they are with us.

Equality

We never assume that we are the experts in yours or your child's experience. Everyone's voice and story is as valid as each other. We never parent blame.

As a clinic, we wholeheartedly embrace the concept of neurodiversity, recognising neurological differences such as autism and ADHD as natural variations in the human experience.

We have a commitment to neurodiversity affirming practice.

Communication

We never assume priority in communication systems. We facilitate communication in whichever way is easiest for your child. This could be drawing, writing, texting or via the computer. We can stay in the clinic, or can go out and about if this is preferable to your young person. We need your child where they need to be; it's about us changing to suit them rather than the other way around.

Advocacy

It is important to us that the work we do has strengths and abilities at its core. We hope to empower our young people to understand their unique abilities, to celebrate them and be able to advocate for their needs in whatever setting they face.

We believe the young people and families that we support should be at the centre of the services we provide. Therefore, we engage our young people with service planning and feedback on areas that we can improve on.

What People Are Saying

Dad of 8 year old girl

We all loved coming to Every Mind, my son importantly. He struggles to go to new places because of anxiety but having the animals, toys and such a calming environment really helped to settle him in. Every person treated him like a human being and took the time to get to know him. This was wonderful to see as he seemed so happy and relaxed when at the clinic.

Mum of 7 year old girl

We are so pleased to have found such an amazing clinic. We have been made to feel comfortable by everyone we have met and more importantly, so has our daughter. She’s been at ease undertaking the assessments because not only are the clinicians and reception staff so friendly, but the environment really caters to her needs and helped her to feel relaxed and engaged.

Dad of 10 year old girl

The diagnostic reports reflect a child we recognise; which means that in the relatively short time each clinician spent with her, they were able to see her strengths and challenges and tailor a report that didn’t just make us feel that she was a number in a system. Thank you to everyone at every mind for helping the beginning of this journey feel less overwhelming and daunting for us as parents. And thank you for seeing our child as the wonderful individual we know her to be.

We had such a fantastic experience with every mind. It was very clear from the outset that you meet the nice guidelines and what you were able to offer which is so important for a parent if they're paying to get a diagnosis.
