All about Louise....
What is your education and work history?
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southampton
- MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King’s College London
- PGCert in Evidence Based Interventions for Children and Young People with Common Mental Health Problems at the University of Reading
- BSc (Hons) Psychology and Clinical Psychology from the University of Kent
- I have worked in the NHS and specifically with neurodiverse young people for over ten years. I also have experience of working with people with a learning disability, children’s health services (paediatrics), and adult mental health services.
- I am passionate about conducting and publishing research to benefit the people I support. I have recently had research published on the benefits of nature for mental health.
Have you undertaken any additional training?
- I am trained in autism assessment (ADOS-2 and BOSA).
- I have attended the TEACCH Autism Programme 5-day training and Beyond the Basics: Advanced Applications of TEACCH Principles and Practices.
- I have attended five-day training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
- I regularly engage in CPD, and have attended courses and seminars, such as two-day introduction to Cognitive Analytic Therapy, the essentials of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and modules to complete a foundation in Systemic Family Therapy.
What do you do at Every Mind?
- I work with young people and their families to offer therapeutic support post-diagnosis.
- I use the different skills I have acquired to tailor support to what is needed for each person or family, e.g., using compassionate approaches, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, etc.
What made you chose to work with neurodivergent children and young people?
- I have spent most of my career supporting autistic individuals and their families, particularly focusing on strength-based approaches.
- I feel passionate about making psychological interventions accessible to everyone, I have learned a lot about adapting therapies for neurodiverse individuals and I enjoy this process.
What is important to know about how you work with neurodivergent young people?
- It is important to me that the support I offer makes sense to you. I always try to ensure that I adapt support to the person, not the other way around.
- Going to therapy or for an assessment can seem daunting, I like to make the process as fun and individualistic as I can. I appreciate that everyone will have different views on support and what is important to them, and that is ok.
What do you do outside of work?
- I love playing games, either board games, card games or computer games. My recent favourite games are Bananagrams and Stardew Valley!
- I like to spend time looking after my two cheeky rabbits, Elvis and Loki.
- I love movies and TV shows, this is usually my special topic in a quiz.
What is unique about you?
- I once owned a goat called Matty and made my mum bring him to school for pets day!

What People Are Saying
Dad of 8 year old girl
We all loved coming to Every Mind, my son importantly. He struggles to go to new places because of anxiety but having the animals, toys and such a calming environment really helped to settle him in. Every person treated him like a human being and took the time to get to know him. This was wonderful to see as he seemed so happy and relaxed when at the clinic.
Mum of 7 year old girl
We are so pleased to have found such an amazing clinic. We have been made to feel comfortable by everyone we have met and more importantly, so has our daughter. She’s been at ease undertaking the assessments because not only are the clinicians and reception staff so friendly, but the environment really caters to her needs and helped her to feel relaxed and engaged.
Dad of 10 year old girl
The diagnostic reports reflect a child we recognise; which means that in the relatively short time each clinician spent with her, they were able to see her strengths and challenges and tailor a report that didn’t just make us feel that she was a number in a system. Thank you to everyone at every mind for helping the beginning of this journey feel less overwhelming and daunting for us as parents. And thank you for seeing our child as the wonderful individual we know her to be.
Mum of 6 year old girl
We had such a fantastic experience with every mind. It was very clear from the outset that you meet the nice guidelines and what you were able to offer which is so important for a parent if they're paying to get a diagnosis.
